TOTEM
…what is left, what matters,
sandbags, T-walls... is what matters
… a mark, a reference to an overall abstraction of the perception what it is that is most symbolic of the culture the artist is a part, trying to belong to, assimilate (unsuccessfully yet quietly, maybe, still trying ), understand, experience it as an immigrant of 25 years living on these grounds called the USA.
Three markers, references, come to ones mind, War, Concrete, and Mass production { hard core capitalism } American style, cold, crude and inflexible were each represented as such in the work exhibited.
It is this that we celebrate
It is this that we pray to
It is this that we were, are and will be
.... forever and ever...
Yet, there is this small hope left, within human interaction projected upon the top layer of sandbags, hanging, or rather laying much the framed photographs would hang upon white gallery's walls . But those gallery white walls don't matter in war, for they are gone, destroyed.
